Indeed a wonderful thing to hear on the news last night!!! I am dismayed that the radio talk show people are only letting the homophobe side air and not our side. They used all the same arguments that they used when women were coming into the milita…

A Special Day for LGBT Military

I have waited over 30 years to hear the words I heard today from the most senior person in the USA military.Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Admiral Mike Mullen stated; "No matter how I look at the issue...I cannot escape being troubled by the fact that we have in place a policy which forces young men and women to lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens...For me, it comes down to integrity -- theirs as individuals and ours as an institution."

Grass Roots Organizing Is Important

Nationally LGBT lobbying, protests, marches, and rallies are having an affect. There was a time when LGBT issues were not discussed and now they are. All research has pointed to having a conversation openly and honestly is what really helps people understand the difference between full equality and prejudice actions and treatment toward LGBT.

What is very important is do work with other LGBT and ally activists in your region and have lobby days. Go as a team to local offices for your Congressio… Continue

Supreme Hypocrisy

Recusal refers to the act of abstaining from participation in an official action such as a legal proceeding due to a conflict of interest of the presiding court official or administrative officer. There are applicable canons of ethics that do provide standards for recusal. Providing that the judge or presiding officer must be free from disabling conflicts of interest makes the fairness of the proceedings less likely to be questioned. 28 U.S.C. sec. 144, legal heading "Bias or prejudContinue

GLBT inclusion will increase security

First, many of our allies already have GLBT service members that we work with in field and office settings. This does not impact our ability to have unit cohesion.
- Most of the ones who react negatively to GLBT service are older retired people and not those in the trenches. The young people have different value systems that are not hate based.
Second, when GLBT members can serve openly then the ability of others to blackmail or pressure them to provide information will decrease thereby increasi… Continue

LGBT We Need to All Do The Census UR Answers Are Confidential

Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau attempts to conduct an accurate count of Americans, households, and families. The Census Bureau will begin mailing 2010 census forms in March, and it is critically important that LGBT families participate and be counted.

Census data has helped us advocate for equality on key issues to families such as adoption, employment discrimination and immigration equality. For example, from the 2000 census we know that 4% of the USA population was count… Continue
