THE INTERIM ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE & SIGNATURE GATHERING MEETING

Please join your fellow members of the California LGBT community and straight allies as we prepare for the hard work necessary to restore Marriage Equality.

The specific goals of this meeting include:

- Continuing to foster statewide communications and coalition building
- Establishing a Political Action Committee to develop a centralized fund-raising platform
- Developing an interim leadership and organizational structure for a 2010 signature gathering effort

All are welcome to join us. Everyone dedicated to working for marriage equality is invited to participate in the discussions and planning. The proposed decision-making method for this meeting will be to recognize one vote for each organization or local chapter of an organization. Please be prepared to identify as a representative for your organization if appropriate at the time of registration. If you would like to propose organizational structure ideas for discussion, please send summaries to Sara Beth Brooks (sarabrooks@gmail.com), she is compiling a list for the agenda. The deadline to submit your idea for proposal is 9am PST Tuesday, August 25.

When registering, you will be asked to contribute $15 to help cover the costs of the meeting space. If you can help with the costs, thank you. If not, thank you for making the trip, we are glad you are coming. All funds raised will pay for meeting costs.

While not everyone agrees on when to proceed with a ballot initiative, we all agree that the work to win back equality must start now. This work must focus on coalition building within our community and reaching out to every California community to change hearts and minds. We greatly encourage all supporters of marriage equality to attend this meeting regardless of your preference for repeal timeline. Combining the passion and dedication of the entire community is the best way to Repeal Prop 8 and restore equal rights in California, and beyond.
