We were promised once DADT was repealed that we could have an LGBT Pride at the pentagon.

The rest of the federal government had one in June.

After repeal we asked when can we have Pride at the Pentagon?

SILENCE

 

We also provided a draft Diversity regulation for Department of Defense (DOD) in May 2011 that includes Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) employees.

To date whenever we ask for status all that we get is SILENCE.

 

For well over a decade LGBT DOD civil servants have requested to be included in diversity events and to be able to teach about LGBT.

The purpose is to mitigate incidents and crimes of hate toward this community.

 

We have consistently been told;

“No you are not special emphasis. Here is the list and you’re not there.”

 

The people that decide in DOD which groups are on the list are the same people telling us no.

 

Exclusion is discrimination.

 

LGBT employees are declared a special emphasis group throughout the rest of the government due to the President Clinton's Executive Order 13087

 

Does DOD’s diversity council include LGBT?
It does not.

Does the DOD have a history of LGBT employees being harassed?
Yes it really does. Including LGBT being murdered

DOD LGBT employees need to be given a seat at the diversity table.

Thus far we are given a stool in the darkest corner of the kitchen.

Only when the bell is rung then we may enter the diversity dining area.

Not to eat, but only to provide service.

We get the privilege of delivering food and clearing of dishes.

For how long must your LGBT employees remain in the dark kitchen corner denied a seat at the diversity table?

 

For How Long???

True leaders recognize that equality for all is mandatory. 

Making believe we do not exist is an unwritten perpetuation of DADT.

In this community we have a saying Silence = Death.
