NY Times Article - President Obama Says Same Sex Marriage Should Be...

 

Many of us had hoped for this speech in May 2008 when the very popular Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was campaigning.

That did not happen, but the end result of the passage of California’s Proposition 8 ignited an EQUALITY movement the likes of which this nation had never before seen.

 

All of us know that our and any other affinity group’s inequality should never be a part of human history.

 

Now the President is once again a candidate and took a political risk that many did not think he would, but he did.

 

Apparently he was listening when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said

“…and it is always the right time to do right…”

 

We appreciate this decision deeply and hope he will take the Proud and Bold move by insisting that the Secretary of Defense Mr. Leon Panetta fully and totally include all without exception LGBT employees in the department’s diversity program.

 

It is time for the SECDEF to step up to the plate.
