On Veterans Day, it’s a time to give thanks especially to those veterans that are ignored due to discrimination.
Since our community is often under counted it is a conservative estimate that at least 10-20% or 2.3 - 4.6 million veterans are Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) people. All have served this nation well and have received little to no credit for their vast contributions to national value.
We are eternally grateful for their service to our country and recognize that all our veterans including those that are LGBT need our support every single day.
After leaving military service, some veterans have stepped forward and chosen to continue their service to our nation as civil servants, federal contractors, other public service, and volunteer duties.
That those who have been/ continue to be harassed and or victimized just for being LGBT deserved then and now better of this beloved nation for which all are willing to give their lives to protect.
To each and everyone we thank you not only for your past service, but for continued contributions.
Some day this nation will become self aware of the cruelty of denying reparations to those service members that were removed from service or worse; simply for being LGBT. That Transgender service members need to also be able to serve openly just as the LGBs can.
That this community must be declared an Affinity/ Special Emphasis group in the Department of Defense just as their many counterparts and for the same reasons. It is our destiny to Be Bold Be Proud Be Ourselves & Demand Normal!!!
